Designing for Psychedelic Therapy
A three-stage process has been trialled which consists of preparation, the treatment session and integration. The preparation stage in which a therapist and patient attempt to form a trusting relationship over a few sessions is then followed by the treatment session involving the patient lying down on a bed in a comfortable room for a period of 6-8 hours. The integration stage involves a vital part of the process in which the patient is encouraged to discuss their experiences. A controlled environment where patients can self-focus and internalise is ideal for this emerging type of therapy. These spaces should be composed of soothing, tactile materials and be located close to a safe, outdoor environment.
